Cooked and flaked halibut on a plate
Prep Time:5 minutes
Cook Time:10 minutes

Equipment

  • Broiler pan

Ingredients

  • 3/4 to 1 inch thick piece of halibut
  • Melted butter or olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  • You do not need a broiler rack when broiling fish, only the pan. Oil just the area that the fish will cover. Lining the pan with foil or parchment paper makes cleaning up easier and moving the fish to a serving dish easier too.
  • Generously brush the fish with melted butter, olive oil, or your favorite marinade.
  • Sprinkle with salt and black pepper and your favorite herbs, if desired.
  • Place fish skin side down on the broiler pan.
  • Place roller pan in the oven so that the top of the fish is about 4 inches from the heat source.
  • Broil halibut for 8 to 12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish. Brush with additional melted butter or oil halfway through cooking.
  • Cook until the fish flakes easily with a fork at the thickest part.

Notes

Enjoy broiled halibut as is with your favorite side dishes or flake it up to add to another recipe.
