Equipment

  • 2 Empty twist-up (deodorant) containers
  • Electric burner (optional)
  • Small saucepan
  • Measuring spoons
  • Mixing spoon

Materials

  • 3 tbsp Sweet almond oil (or coconut oil)
  • 6 tbsp Mango, shea, or cocoa butter
  • 6 tbsp Beeswax
  • 4 drops Essential oil (optional)

Instructions

  • Measure oil, butter, and beeswax into the saucepan.
  • Turn the burner to low heat and stir until the ingredients are melted completely.
  • Remove from heat and stir in your favorite essential oil, if desired.
  • Carefully pour into both twist-up containers until full to the top.
  • Allow them to sit undisturbed for 1 to 2 hours or until completely cooled and hardened.
  • Twist up a little at a time and rub on the back of your hands or anywhere on your skin that needs moisturizing.
  • Keep the cap on when not in use and store in a cool, dry place for up to 1 year.

Notes

You can use coconut oil instead of sweet almond oil, just double the amount if it is in solid form.
Feel free to use either shea, mango, or cocoa butter, or a combination of all three. I find shea butter much easier to measure!
Use your favorite essential oil or a mixture of oils for your favorite scent. Lavender is always a favorite for homemade beauty products.
If you don't have any empty deodorant containers, you can purchase them at health food stores. Or use a mold and make lotion bars instead.
Reuse emtpy containers over and over again. Just mix up a new batch and refill!
These make great gifts! This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to make more body butter sticks.
