A New Blog
Back in 2014, I started a new blog that I named Dwell Delightfully. It was a craft blog where I posted my latest projects and creations. I loved reading other blogs and was interested in giving it a try myself.
Blogging in the Beginning
I really enjoyed it once I got the hang of it. The projects, the photography, the editing, and then creating the posts excited me and I loved watching my site grow!
I had a project pinned over twenty thousand times and then featured in a craft magazine, a crib side that I converted to fabric storage. That was a big deal for me at the time!
I became a member of the design team for a major company in the paper crafts industry, creating projects using their new products that they sent to me. Things were going pretty well!
A Change of Heart
But after a while, it started getting old. It felt a bit meaningless to me and not worth all of the time and effort that I was putting into it. I was trying too hard to be trendy just like everybody else but it just wasn’t me.
Blogging is a huge investment of time, a lot of hard, and can be expensive. If it doesn’t feel right, then it probably isn’t. For me, it wasn’t worth sacrificing time with my family
After my husband returned from his fifth deployment we found out that we were moving to Alaska. We asked to be sent there so we were REALLY excited! It felt like the right time to retire my blog and focus more on what really mattered to me, our family, and our new adventure.
Deciding to Try Again
Fast forward a few years and here I am again! After A LOT of back and forth on my part and encouragement from my husband along with several friends and family members asking me to document our life in Alaska, I decided it was time to give it a try, again.
But this time, there’s more meaning behind it. Back then, I wanted to follow the crowd, take perfectly styled photographs, and make trendy Pinterest-worthy projects.
Our lifestyle is different now and that will be reflected here. This blog is about living life in Alaska and the adventures that our family has. This is a magical place and whether or not you live here, have dreams of visiting one day, or would rather vacation on a beach somewhere warm (winter’s not for everyone!), I’m glad you’re here and I hope you enjoy our little corner of Alaska! We’re definitely living the sweet life!
